Finish Lines, not Finish Times

Two men, Tee and Simon, with medals and running race tee shorts, smile after the Worthing Runfest 10K in May 2025

Hands up if you’ve ever found yourself questioning your life choices mid-race?

Bravo to Lonely Goat Tee S for pushing on to the finish line at the Worthing Runfest 10K…

Sunday’s shenanigans saw myself and my erstwhile running buddy Simon K rock up at the Worthing Runfest. This run severely tested my mental equilibrium.

First off, it was hot and toasty.
11:10 race start time.
2 miles in, my gammy ankle that behaved itself at parkrun yesterday decided to flip the finger at me!
My right groin decided to join in the fun and told me to pack it in!

At times, it was a battle between mind and body, questioning my life choices. I guess my mind won in the end because I finished at the time I desired – Under 55mins (54:43). Today was all about finish lines….not finish times.

The organisation of the run fest was excellent. The goodies were adequate. The medal was lovely, and the running tee was beautiful. The atmosphere was smoking! We had the customary brekkie and coffee afterwards. And now I think I need a rest!
