Update: England Athletics affiliation for 2022/23

England Athletics logo

Some of you are affiliated with England Athletics through Lonely Goat, and others may be considering it. If so, this update shares information on the affiliation process for the year ahead.

(If you’re not affiliated, or don’t wish to affiliate, feel free to stop reading. If you’re thinking of affiliating for the first time, or want to know what it’s all about, scroll down to the last section of this email)

How do I renew?

The England Athletics (EA) affiliation year runs from April to March. For runners who are already affiliated with EA, you will receive a renewal email in the first half of April.

If you receive one of these renewal emails, click on the link and follow the payment instructions to renew.

If you don’t wish to renew, ignore the email.

These emails are sent through EA’s online portal. However, because there are so many affiliated Goats, they can’t be sent all in one go or it will crash the system. Instead, they have to be staggered over a couple of weeks, so it might be the middle of April before you receive your email.

If you’re expecting one, but haven’t received it after the first fortnight of April, check your spam folder for an email from [email protected] If it hasn’t arrived, please let us know by emailing [email protected].

Alternatively, log in to your EA myAthletics portal. Go to your profile page, click on ‘ORDER HISTORY’ and there will be a button next to the order, which will direct you to pay online via Stripe.

How much does it cost?

For 2022/23 affiliation will cost £19.

This is broken down as follows: £16 to EA and £3 to Lonely Goat as an admin fee. We always want to keep the cost to our members as low as possible. But as the club has gotten bigger it costs us more to look after it. We hope you understand.

How do I sign up for the first time?

If you’re not currently affiliated, but wish to be, then head to the Affiliation page on our website: https://lonelygoat.com/affiliation.

Do I need to affiliate to be a member of Lonely Goat?

Affiliation with EA is separate to being a member of Lonely Goat and not compulsory. It is possible to be a member of Lonely Goat without affiliating to EA.

There are benefits to affiliation including:

  • Discounts from sportsshoes.com, Runderwear and Shokz;
  • Discounted race entry;
  • Access to training resources.

You can find out more on our affiliation page – https://lonelygoat.com/affiliation – or the EA website: England Athletics’.

How can I learn more?

If you have a query about affiliation that isn’t answered here, or elsewhere on our website, then please email [email protected] – We’ll be more than happy to help.

Happy running,

Andy and the LG HQ team
